RIP Isaac Hayes & Bernie Mac
The world of African American entertainers lost two monumental players this week:
Issac Hayes and Bernie Mac.
Isaac Hayes died at the age of 65 in his home. With a voice like molten dark chocolate, he'll forever be remembered as the one who immortalized the private eye/phallic deity, "SHAFT!"
Bernie Mac was only 50! I have a soft spot for this homegrown Chi-town entertainer...Chicago has this way of really pulling for its own little celebs as the city's pride...Bernie, Common, Oprah, the Sox. I just watched the Chicago episode of the Bernie Mac show the other day and was remembering everything great about the city and loving that Bernie had brought it all back home. He wasn't afraid to un-Disney-fy family life and parenting and that's what made him what.
Rest In Peace both.
