home obsession

a friend recently told me i have total productivity ADD. i can't sit on the couch and watch TV without also surfing the web and cleaning the house and planning a to do list at the same time. any free moment on the subway or bus is instantly whiled away with the iPhone, catching up on news, texts, emails, or my calendar. it kind of sucks. and rules. how the hell else does a girl get her shit done?

so now, jobless, productivity takes the form of consumerism.

previous obsessions in the last few weeks:
-finding a desk lamp and chair (double check)
-scoring a free armchair (check!)
-scoring a free filing cabinet (check!)
-white nectarines (check)
-making fish tacos (hells yea)
-finding a not-vomit-inducing cat post (no such thing)
-marc jacobs navy blue parka (rethought a better use for $700)

latest obsession: finding a lamp.

what is it with ugly-ass lamps? how hard is it to find a simple, clean, modern floor lamp that doesn't look like it's from Ikea? and is less than $300?

anyone got suggestions? I've scoured west elm, CB2, crate & barrel, restoration hardware, straight from the crate, croft & little, jonathan adler, john derrian, target, macy's, e-Bay, elle decor, domino, design public, and tons of modern design sites. arghus.

please. no more hideousness in the world. palin is enough.
